You are on this page: Quarterly Detention Reports
Contents
The Juvenile Justice Detention Monitoring Report and the Juvenile Justice Detention Stat Sheets, collectively known as the Quarterly Detention Reports, are produced by the OCFS Bureau of Research, Evaluation, and Performance Analytics (BREPA) to provide state and local decision makers with access to timely data on New York State’s detention system. It is our hope that the information provided within these documents will inform discussions surrounding detention and promote data-driven strategies for continuous system improvement.
The Quarterly Detention Reports are run by home county. For facility-level data see the Detention Facility Average Daily Population (ADP) Report.
For easy access to detention admission trend data see the Five-Year Detention Admission Trend Reports.
Juvenile Justice Detention Monitoring Report
The Juvenile Justice Detention Monitoring Report provides an overall picture of how detention is used across the state. This report includes data on three key detention indicators—admissions, average length of stay (ALOS), and average daily population (ADP)—broken out by case type and county. Information is also provided on how detention admission patterns have changed over time.

Juvenile Justice Detention Stat Sheets
The Juvenile Justice Detention Stat Sheets provide detailed detention utilization data at several levels of aggregation, including statewide, region (i.e., New York City and Rest of State), and county. These reports were designed to address questions concerning how much, how long, and for whom detention is utilized. Counties are encouraged to examine their individual Stat Sheets with an eye toward local concerns.

Detention Facility Average Daily Population (ADP) Report
The Detention Facility Average Daily Population (ADP) Report provides ADP figures for each individual detention facility broken out by sex. Aggregate results are also provided by facility type and location. This report was designed to provide detention facilities with a snapshot of their current detention population, along with the ability to asses how that population has changed over time.

Five-Year Detention Admission Trend Reports
The Five-Year Detention Admission Trend Reports provide admission trends overall and by youth type (i.e., AO, VTL, JO and JD) for the most recent five-year period for which data are available. Statewide trends are presented along with regional (i.e., New York City vs. Rest of State) and county trends.
For additional admission trend data see the Juvenile Justice Detention Monitoring Reports.
