A majority of people who are visually impaired have some usable vision and many of them can be accommodated by low-tech solutions. The following is a list of low-tech solutions for people who are legally blind:
- Improved contrast between light and dark objects;
- Magnifiers;
- Improved lighting or glare reduction;
- Written materials in an accessible format, such as in large print, Braille, audio cassette, or computer disk;
- Large print, Braille, or tactile markings on equipment;
- A reader to read any type of hand written materials that are not accessible;
- A cassette or digital recorder.
