What rights do you have if you are in foster care?
- To be safe and have what you need.
- To see and talk to people you care about.
- To be healthy.
- To be informed and involved.
- To develop yourself.
- To be treated fairly.
- To stay in your current school unless your agency decides, with your input, that changing schools is in your best interest.
- To receive appropriate, confidential legal help with your immigration status.
- To agree to remain in foster care after you turn 18 years old until you are 21.
- To be informed that you can request to come back into foster care (reenter) between the ages of 18 and 21.
- To be informed that you may be eligible for continued health insurance coverage until you are 26 years of age regardless of how long you were in foster care.
