CALLING ALL CHILD CARE PROVIDERS: TAKE THE OCFS EARTH WEEK CHALLENGE!

Earth Week is April 20-26th and we are encouraging child care providers throughout the state to join us in celebrating this year.

We have created a special Earth Week “board” on the OCFS Pinterest site that contains crafts, projects, reading and singing ideas to help you celebrate with your children and share with them the importance of protecting our environment.

The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970. The movement has grown in scope each year, becoming a week-long celebration. More than one billion people now participate in Earth Week activities each year, making it the largest civic observance in the world.

As a child care provider, you know firsthand the significant impact that early learning opportunities make on young minds. Our Pinterest board is a great resource to help you share the importance of recycling and helping to protect the world we live in.

Finally, we know you are proud of the accomplishments of the children in your care! If you would like to share with us how you celebrated Earth Week at your child care program, please send pictures of the crafts and projects to info@ocfs.ny.gov with the subject line OCFS EARTH WEEK CHALLENGE. We will post them on our OCFS Facebook and Flickr sites.

** Please do not send any photos of children. We will not be posting any photos in which children can be identified in order to protect the privacy of the children.
