Gov. Cuomo proclaims November Adoption Awareness Month

With this announcement, New York joins states across the country in observing Adoption Awareness Month to bring attention to children in foster care waiting for a permanent family. Last year 2237 children were adopted from our state’s foster care system and currently 5582 children in New York State have a goal of adoption.
The theme of National Adoption Month is harnessing the power of social media to recruit and retain parents for children and youth in foster care waiting for permanent families. OCFS provides an Adoption Album with videos, photos and stories to assist those interested in becoming adoptive parents.
