New York State Cost of Financial Exploitation Study
The New York State Cost of Financial Exploitation Study, released June 15, 2016, is one of the most comprehensive studies to quantify both the financial and the non-financial costs of financial exploitation of vulnerable adults. This study includes the largest number of Adult Protective Services (APS) financial exploitation cases to date in any single state. In New York State, APS provides protective services to adults 18 and older who, because of physical or mental impairment, are unable to protect themselves from abuse, neglect, financial exploitation or other harm, and have no one else willing and able to assist responsibly.
