Thursday, May 26, 2022 THE NEW YORK STATE OFFICE OF CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES ANNOUNCES LAUNCH OF MOBILE RESPONSE UNITS TO STRENGTHEN CHILDREN AND FAMILIES AT RISK OF ENTERING CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM Four new mobile response vehicles will be dispatched around New York State to help bring services and resources to support families where they're located as part of the expansion of primary prevention work. Unit staff develop and operate coordinated programs of community-based family support and family preservation services to reduce child maltreatment, address safety and family integrity.
Friday, May 20, 2022 GOVERNOR HOCHUL ANNOUNCES HISTORIC $2 BILLION IN CHILD CARE SUBSIDIES TO SUPPORT LOW-INCOME AND WORKING FAMILIES AND CHILD CARE PROVIDERS The largest investment in child care subsidies in New York State history will be distributed — $2 billion to increase the number of families receiving child care financial assistance and the amount child care providers are paid for their essential services. It includes $894 million in New York State Child Care Block Grants. These investments provide much-needed support.

Wednesday, April 13, 2022 GOVERNOR HOCHUL ANNOUNCES NEARLY $16 MILLION TO IMPROVE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF ORGANIZATIONS AT RISK OF HATE CRIMES A total of 205 organizations received 327 grants, which are available through the state's Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes program and administered by the state Division of Criminal Justice Services. It will allow synagogues, churches, religious schools, civic organizations and other nonprofits to protect families they serve.

Wednesday, March 9, 2022 GOVERNOR HOCHUL ANNOUNCES NEARLY $24 MILLION IN FEDERAL FUNDING FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND SEXUAL ASSAULT PROGRAMS New York State is distributing nearly $24 million in federal funding to domestic violence programs and shelters, sexual assault programs, and rape crisis centers. The funding will help expand on-site COVID testing, vaccination, offset fiscal challenges and better reach for underserved communities.

Sunday, February 27, 2022 GOVERNOR HOCHUL ANNOUNCES PLAN TO END STATE MASK REQUIREMENT IN SCHOOLS STARTING MARCH 2 Given the dramatic 98% decrease in COVID-19 since the Omicron surge earlier this year, as well new guidance issued by the CDC, the New York State Office of Children and Family Services will no longer require that masks be worn in child care programs, except in specific instances as detailed in the guidance below, effective March 2, 2022. Parents should feel free to have their children continue to wear masks if they desire, and we will work with our child care providers to keep our programs healthy and safe. We thank our child care providers for their tremendous commitment and patience while serving the working families of New York State throughout the pandemic. Thursday, December 30, 2021 GOVERNOR HOCHUL ANNOUNCES SUCCESS OF CHILD CARE STABILIZATION GRANT INITIATIVE Governor Kathy Hochul today announced New York State's success in awarding $900 million in Child Care Stabilization Grants to child care programs statewide. The grants are part of a $2.3 billion package of investments in New York State's child care industry funded by the federal American Rescue Plan Act and Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. The Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) awarded funding to nearly 15,000 eligible child care providers over four months, from August through November.
Monday, December 20, 2021 GOVERNOR HOCHUL ANNOUNCES $35 MILLION FOR AT LEAST 1,400 SUPPORTIVE HOUSING UNITS ACROSS NEW YORK STATE Governor Kathy Hochul today announced 192 conditional awards totaling $35 million to housing agencies in every region across New York to provide support services and operating funding for at least 1,400 units of supportive housing for homeless persons with special needs, conditions or other challenges.
