Duties
Instruct a course(s) recognized by the New York State Education Department. Prepare or modify curriculum and course outlines. Prepare daily or weekly lesson plans and conduct a schedule of formal instruction for residents of an Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) facility. Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview.
Minimum Qualifications
Permanent Qualifications: Must be reachable on the Civil Service List; OR One year permanent competitive service as a Teacher or eligible for a 70.1 transfer; OR Provisional Qualifications: A provisional/initial/permanent or professional New York State certification in the appropriate specialty. Requirements for Appointment at Each Level: For Teacher 2: New York State provisional/initial/conditional initial certification in the appropriate specialty**. For Teacher 3: New York State permanent/professional certification in the appropriate specialty**. For Teacher 4: New York State permanent/professional certification in the appropriate specialty and two years of post-certification (provisional/initial/conditional initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in the appropriate specialty**.
Additional Info
**Preferred Specialty: Math 7-12, English Language Arts 7-12, Biology 7-12, Earth Science 7-12. Certification must be at the 7-12 grade level Appointment level commensurate with certification.
