Emergency Response and Preparedness in New York State Child Care Settings

The Division of Child Care Services’s Deputy Commissioner, Janice Molnar, Ph.D., spoke at a workshop at the Institute of Medicine's Forum on Medical and Public Health Preparedness for Catastrophic Events, which took place on June 10-11, 2013 in Washington DC. The workshop, “Preparedness Considerations for Children and Families," brought together representatives from federal, state, local, public health and healthcare sectors, as well as those from schools, community organizations, and other non-traditional partners would have an interest in better preparing communities for emergencies.

Dr. Molnar participated as a panelist on “Disaster Recovery with a Focus on Children and Families” to discuss “Approaches and Interventions in Disaster Recovery that Promote the Social and Economic Well-Being of Children? How are these monitored?”.

Her presentation, “Emergency Response and Preparedness in New York State Child Care Settings” focused on Superstorm Sandy and New York State’s response to the aftermath of the storm.
