Outlook Web Access

Please note that if only access to EMAIL is needed, Outlook Web Access can be used from any Internet connected PC or Laptop at any time

Outlook Web Access (OWA) is a web based tool which can access a user's email from any pc at any site

Accessing OWA:

After the move to Office 365 you are no longer able to get to Outlook Web Access (OWA) by using https://webmail.state.ny.us https://mail.ny.gov/owa, https://mail.nysemail.nyenet/owa.  

There is one URL for Office 365,

https://portal.microsoftonline.com

From the Internet, you will get prompted at the logon screen; the username is your email address for example bob.smith@ocfs.ny.gov and login with your HSEN password. ITS staff login with their ITS email address and their NYS password for example bob.smith@its.ny.gov.

SSL/VPN Information/Address

Information on Secure Socket Layer Virtual Private Network (SSL/VPN) for Non-State Owned Equipment

SSL VPN access, which is available through the use of Non-State owned equipment, allows the user to access CONNECTIONS, WEBSTAR, the OCFS Intranet and Cognos Reportnet, if he or she has been granted such access. (As additional applications become available, a notification will be distributed).

The connectivity provided by and ISP (Internet Service Provider) must be in place before submitting the request for the SSL VPN solution, and is the sole responsibility of the requsting Agency.

Information on SSLVPN remote desktop (SRD) for Non-State Owned Equipment

SSLVPN remote desktop access, which is available through the use of Non-State owned equipment, allows the user to access their assigned workstation remotely as if they were sitting at their desk.

If the user does nto already have standard SSLVPN access, they should review the offering document and remote access acceptable user memorandum of understanding as listed in the SSLVPN section above.

The supervisor of the user can request this access by sending email to ocfs.sm.comctrup giving the full name and SHEN logon ID along with a business justification (there is a monthly recurring charge to OCFS for this type of access).

Once access is granted, the user should review the below document describing how to setup access to their assigned workstation, and contact the OCFS end user management team at ocfs.dl.it.eum2 for assistance in configuring their workstation to allow remote access by their HSEN logon ID.

Client VPN Access for State Owned Equipment

Client VPN access is available for local districts and voluntary agencies from state owned Laptops or PC's, including CIAB's.

Cisco Client VPN access, which is only available through the use of State owned equipment, allows the user to access any application that he or she could access using a workstation directly connected to the HSEN network.

The connectivity provided by an ISP (Internet Service Provider) must be in place before submitting the request for the CIAB VPN solution, and is the sole responsibility of the requesting Agency.
