State Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped Celebrates Centennial. Listen to testimonials from consumers, employers and partners.

The New York State Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped (CBVH) celebrated its 100th anniversary with a special event featuring former Governor David A. Paterson as the keynote speaker.

CBVH has consistently been a national leader in helping train and place blind and visually impaired individuals in competitive, integrated employment. Through their efforts, New York State leads the nation in employment statistics for the blind and visually impaired. In fact, they placed 60 percent more workers in jobs in 2011 than the next highest state. This past federal fiscal year, CBVH placed 403 consumers in jobs, beating their own previous year’s record total of 388.
